The Wharfedale Festival of Theatre exists to promote, celebrate and encourage good amateur theatre in the area, and is a friendly festival with a unique "community" feel, open to amateur dramatic and operatic societies and youth and schools groups.

Aims of the Festival



       
  • To promote, celebrate and encourage good amateur theatre in the area.
     
  • To assess productions at each society's location through a travelling Assessors Panel.
     
  • To mark productions using a scheme adapted from one originally used by the Guild of Drama Adjudicators (GODA).
     
  • To encourage members of dramatic and operatic societies, schools and youth groups to see each others' productions.
     
  • To socialise and celebrate at the season's Awards Evening.
